Early life and education
He was born in Bogotá in a family of artists. 1989 he studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI, 1994–1995 the Eberhard-Karls Universität, Tübingen, Germany, 1995 the B.F.A. School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 1998 The Boston Architectural College, Boston.
