A History Of Classeium
The domain name Classeium.com was registered in May of 2005 in Liverpool, England as a small entertainment portal for games, animations, videos, downloads, soundboards and more. At first the site was completely experimental, with a poor design and weak graphics, it was doomed to failure. After an initial period of just under a year the site had undergone over 30 different displays, none acceptable. At last some effort was put into the creation of Classeium. The creator Sean Powell, with the help from a few friends helped make a rough but acceptable layout. The site included such projects as Flaming Nipples and The Cloud Project the site attracted some visitors but was nowhere near a success. The end of the year was approaching and the site was up for renewal. Something had to be done to make the site worth visiting. Better graphics, a refreshing new look with warm smooth colours allowed the website to finally be completed with its current look, nicknamed the "little wing" theme.
Classeium Today
With the little wing theme in operation the website runs today with six separate sections. In it's current state, Classeium was launched on Saturday, 19th August (GMT - 12) with 122 pages of videos, animations, games, soundboards and more content. The homepage included a very first post on the blog and a supporting post named "Get Linux On Your iPod?". On it's first day Classeium received 33 unique hits and 56 page loads, it had achieved more hits than ever before. The website is currently hosted under Fasthosts, a UK based hosting company. The website is now looking to be automated and more dynamic, meaning an increase in size and content as well as the starting of new projects, including band websites, MySpace layout tools and some more tools. The site can now be visited via the web address [1].
Behind The Scenes
Classeium runs on basic HTML and CSS. The design is mainly structured by CSS and with a minimum use of tables. The use of no tables means fast loading and easy access and also leaves a clean, validated source code. Classeium is now trying to incorporate the use of DHTML for dynamic information rollovers and the use of PHP and MYSQL to enable the whole website to be operated under the power of database technology. If such plans are successful the site will surely grow in size and content.
General Information
Classeium has been made specifically without spyware, adware, virus' or any form of malware for that point. Wr have also gone to great lengths to make sure that the advertisements blend into the page and do not distract the user with loud noises and annoying kill the spider games. In the first week Classeium received a successful 150+ unique users which is a good start.
The Future Of Classeium
Hopefully in the future Classeium will receive more users and will expand in size, and maybe even a portal for users to upload their own work, who knows, only the future will tell.
